Avoid 'discussing about'

'The Confidence Corner' Like Avoid 'discussing about' on Facebook
The Mistake
The Mistake: When using the verb 'discuss', we English speakers in India often make mistakes such as these:

  • Let's meet to discuss about that problem.
  • We were discussing about the match all morning.
'To discuss about' is NOT proper English.
Avoid saying it.

The Correction
The Correction: Speak correctly and with confidence by using the verb 'discuss' without the preposition 'about':

  • Let's meet to discuss that problem.
  • We were discussing the match all morning.
While it is incorrect to say 'to discuss about', it is natural and correct 'to talk about':
  • Let's meet to talk about that problem.
  • We were talking about the match all morning.
